Coroner’s Office changes its stance in Brittany Murphy case

Image
On the 4th anniversary of Brittany Murphy’s death, her father Angelo “AJ” Bertolotti continues to make strides towards finding justice for his late daughter and son-in-law. Alarmed by suspicious symptoms, the bereaved father never believed that both Brittany and her husband, Simon Monjack, died of pneumonia and anemia. He repeatedly requested that the Coroner’s Office test his daughter’s remains for poisons and toxins, which was never done during the original autopsy. When they refused, the determined parent sought other legal remedies. Mr. Bertolotti sued the Office of the Los Angeles Coroner and the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) and secured access to the specimens of blood, hair and tissue of Brittany Murphy.

Department of Homeland Security widens its reach

Image
While the world and the majority of privacy-conscious Americans are rightly concerned with the NSA’s far reaching surveillance, the Department of Homeland Security continues its stealthy encroachment into every aspect of our lives. For example, the DHS recently announced its new alliances with Western Union, the Department of Transportation and Amtrak. Additionally, the agency is proactively seeking partnerships with private businesses and organizations. In theory, these allegiances are supposed to combat human trafficking. In practice, this is merely a continuation of the government’s FinCEN methodology, wherein just about every financial transaction qualifies for a Suspicious Activity Report (SAR). This approach is no different from the NSA’s efforts to indiscriminately collect every available morsel of information – simply because it can. Former DHS Secretary Tom Ridge and Fred Malek: the ties that bind

Image
Former Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security Tom Ridge doesn’t want us to talk about the DHS releasing thousands of illegal immigrants from federal custody. More than 2,000 illegal aliens facing deportation had already been released and the DHS is planning to release 3,000 more detainees by the end of March, 2013. Ridge, however, thinks that it’s too much of a distraction for the American people and should not be discussed. “Story ends right there,” abruptly said Ridge. “Ditto,” chimed in Janet Napolitano. To the contrary, there is much more to the story.
