Former Deutsche Welle reporter Kitty Logan loses press accreditation in Ukraine

Image
Kitty Logan was covering events in war-torn Eastern Ukraine for Deutsche Welle. Her reports didn’t garner much attention, but one of her Facebook posts changed everything. Kitty wrote: “Following previous failure to find rebel front line troops in action and returning with photos of pets, tried again to witness ceasefire breaches. ‘Should I shoot at them so you get something on camera?’ asks the rebel commander, pointing at Ukrainian positions across the open field, currently silent… Well, errr… Story deadline looming… Oh, OK, why not then… Within an hour, total mayhem. Two sides throwing everything at each other – RPGs, mortars, rockets. They were still at it when we made the mad dash out.. Some ceasefire. Did feel a tad guilty though.” Continue reading:  http://www.juliadavisnews.com/articles-about-ukraine/former-deutsche-welle-reporter-kitty-logan-loses-press-accreditation-in-ukraine/

Cabbage republic of Donbass: Crimea part deux

Image
On November 2, 2014, residents of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions in Eastern Ukraine held illegitimate elections , under the watchful eye of Russia-funded militants. The proceedings had all the earmarks of the Putin chapiteau that led up to the annexation of Crimea. Diehard fans of the USSR lined up to receive free cabbage and other cheap vegetables on their way to the polls. Free cabbage got the participants so worked up, they managed to produce 100.1% of votes for the candidates. Afterwards, they gathered to celebrate pseudo-elections in classic Soviet fashion, with music, free food and burly gunmen. Ukraine elections force Communist party out of Parliament

Image
According to the exit poll data and the first results unveiled by Ukraine’s Central Electoral Commission , as of October 27, 2014, the Communist party has been expelled from the Ukrainian Parliament. The outcome of the elections is in line with the democratic values, for which Ukrainians fought and died during the popular revolution on the Maidan . The nation’s heroes did not die in vain. Ukrainians have voted for a Parliament that significantly limits President Poroshenko’s block in its influence and includes previously underrepresented groups into the Verkhovna Rada. Pro-European parties are likely to take up to two-thirds of seats in Parliament. Poroshenko’s Bloc, People’s Front and Self-Help are newly-established pro-reformist parties, headed by young leaders (Klytchko, Yatseniuk and Sadovy respectively). They include civil-society activists, military men and volunteers. These are the people brought into the fold of Ukrainian politics by the Maidan and the conflict stirred up b...

Putin’s pawns blow his cover

Image
Putin’s house of cards continues to fall apart, one Joker at a time. The West assumes that the game of strip poker will eventually shame Russia into curtailing its activities, failing to realize that Emperor Putin is a nudist. Like any good Chekist, he is largely devoid of shame or conscience. Russia cannot be understood according to the Western system of values, for it does not seek to be liked, trusted or respected. Putin’s Russia wants only to be feared. The West is likewise incorrect in assuming that the majority of Russians are zombified into supporting aggression against Ukraine. Many of them fully realize that Russian mainstream media is broadcasting blatant lies. They’re willing to reiterate and disseminate deliberately false statements in a misguided belief that in doing so, they’re helping Mother Russia to counter Western propaganda. The Red Cross has made a confidential legal assessment that Ukraine is officially in a war. This determination opens the door to possi...
